The Crated Casket Illusion

The Illusionary Artistry of Michelangelo and Company
Michelangelo's Misbehaving Light Illusion

The wonderful British film director Alfred Hitchcock said, "There is no terror in the bang, only in the anticipation of it." Although it's my job to amaze instead of frighten, the principle is exactly the same. There is no magic in the surprise at the end of an illusion, only in the anticipation. With this illusion, a light magically goes in an out of an empty box, creating delicious anticipation—and entertainment—on the way to its amazing finale.
